EC250 Time Capsule Marks Ellicott City’s Sestercentennial

EC250 Inc. hosted a ceremony for the dedication of a time capsule to mark Ellicott City, Maryland’s 250th anniversary on Saturday, October 8th at 10:00 am at the historic Merryman Street log cabin located at 8394 Main Street in Ellicott City. Guests included Congressman John Sarbanes, Howard County Executive Dr. Calvin Ball, Senator Katie Fry Hester, Delegate Courtney Watson, Howard Council Member Liz Walsh, representatives from partner organizations, sponsors and members of the community.  The time capsule’s historic stone placement monument and brass plaque was unveiled along with a special community-sourced tribute image that will be included in the capsule.  A variety of the items to be included in the capsule were also on display. The program included the reading of an original poem by Ms. Linda Joy Burke selected for an award at the Howard County Arts Council’s EC250 ARTifacts gallery reception last month. The ceremony concluded with a special performance of the song “Sing Me a Memory” by the cast of the original new EC250 musical “On National Road” set to premiere December 8th at the Horowitz Visual & Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College.
