Maryland Awards EC250 $40,000 for 2022 Sestercentennial Celebration

EC250, Inc. will receive $40,000 in matching funds from the State of Maryland for the town’s upcoming 250th anniversary commemoration in 2022. The funds will provide a vital supplement to $100,000 in funds allocated in the FY22 Howard County Government budget for the year-long celebration. The Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) announced matching grants totaling $206,400 for Patapsco Valley Heritage Area (PVHA) non-profits and local jurisdictions. The grant funds support ¬†heritage tourism projects and activities that draw visitors and expand economic development and tourism-related opportunities in the Patapsco Valley. A total of¬†$5.03 million in 116 matching grants were awarded to ¬†Maryland nonprofits, local jurisdictions, and other heritage tourism organizations by MHAA. These FY22 funds support heritage tourism projects and activities that draw visitors and expand economic development and tourism-related job creation throughout Maryland.
