History Comes Alive! CANCELLED

Living history demonstrations will take place at the historic Merryman Street Log Cabin and Howard County Welcome Center this weekend as part of Ellicott City’s 250th anniversary celebration.

  • Brian Keith will demonstrate rope making as practiced in Virginia around 1770
  • Learn about early surveying techniques with Arthur Malestein as he talks about Maryland’s boundaries and early surveyors including Augustine Hermann who became famous in his own lifetime by drawing the first accurate map of the Chesapeake Bay, as well as the better known duo of Mason & Dixon.
  • Janet Nickerson’s 18th century handmade clothing will be on display among the wares of traveling merchant Lady Aimee’s Fine Sewing & Sutlery
  • Robert Mouland and his Jig Puppets perform at the Welcome Center
